The top three in the table were: Newcastle United (P5, W5, Pts 10); Manchester United (P4 W4, Pts 8); Liverpool (P5 W4, L1, Pts 8).
In Scotland the top three were: Rangers (P6, W5, D1, Pts 11); Clyde (P6 W4, D2, Pts 10); St Mirren (P6, W4, D1, L1, Pts 9).
Amongst other results that day: Crewe Alexandra 3, Stoke 2 (Birmingham & District League); Shrewsbury Town 4, Witton Albion 1; Worcester City 0, Walsall 2; Wrexham 6, Welshpool 1 (all FA Cup preliminary qualifying round).
